JAWS Screen Reader
JAWS (Job Access With Speech) is a powerful screen reader developed by Freedom Scientific for Microsoft Windows. It is designed to assist blind and vision-impaired users by reading aloud the text on the screen and supporting Braille displays. JAWS enables access to web pages, documents, emails, and various software applications, helping users work, study, and navigate the digital world independently.
Unlike some other screen readers, JAWS is a commercial product and not open-source. It offers advanced features and regular updates, making it a trusted tool in professional and educational environments.

Blind.Net
Blind Net is an accessible online platform designed to support and empower blind and vision-impaired individuals. It provides a wide range of resources including screen reader tutorials, assistive technology guides, accessible software, and community support. Blind Net promotes equal access to information and helps bridge the digital divide by enabling independent learning and digital participation for the blind community.

Bookshare
Bookshare is a leading online accessible library that offers books in audio, Braille, large print, and digital text formats for individuals with print disabilities such as blindness, low vision, and learning disabilities. With a wide range of materials including textbooks, novels, and professional resources, Bookshare empowers people of all ages to read and learn independently.
Please note that free memberships to Bookshare are not issued directly by Bookshare, as they only offer paid memberships internationally. However, the DAISY Lanka Foundation is authorized to provide free Bookshare memberships in Sri Lanka, and Ms. Shalika Karunatne has been entrusted with this responsibility. Anyone interested in obtaining a free membership should contact her directly.
Accessing Books Without Downloading
If you are unable to download books directly from the website, you can first check whether the book you need is available. Once confirmed, you can visit our office at the Sri Lanka Council of Vision-Impaired Graduates, where we will assist you in copying the books to a pen drive or CD.
